The Annual Estimated Energy Yield

Please make your selection from the direction of roof list box, then use the angle, size and shading list boxes and press calculate.

Orientation of Roof Angle of Roof System Size Amount of Shade   .. kWh/Year

Annual FIT Return £
Export return £
Savings on consumption from supplier £ @£0.16p
Total Annual Return   £
The figures used in the above formula are provided by Appendix M of the SAP 2009 version 9.81

This calculator is for information purposes only and is indicative at the current FIT rate for retro-fit solar systems up to and including 4kWp, which is 21p

Assumptions made for calculator:

1. Does not include maintenance costs.
2. 50% export of generation assumed.
3. Rate of 16p assumed for supplied electric from grid.
4. No tax consideration.
5. Does not include RPI fluxuations.
6. Solar radiation is immpossible to predict and will affect the overall system performance.
The solar electric becomes the primary supply of electric in the home. When you generate and at the same time turn on your appliances, you will consume electricity from the solar system and not from your supplier, this rate is assumed to be 16p. When there are too many appliances for the solar system to cope with, the suppliers electric will support the solar system.
This rate is 3p per unit. When the solar generation is larger than what is being consumed in the home, the system starts to export the excess electricity.
This is the Feed in Tariff rate multiplied by the annual Generation 'kWh'.
This is an estimation of the amount of shade that is cast on the roof space that houses the solar panels throughout the day.
Choose a preferred size of solar system for the calculation.
This is the slope of the roof space that houses the solar panels.
This is the direction of the roof space that will house the solar panels eg South.
